.:To Forget:.
Naru stood in the middle of what was once a courtyard. The marble ruins she was surrounded by gained an eerie quality in the dim light of the gloaming. A shiver ran down her spine and a voice in the back of her head told her to wake up. Although Naru was scared she tried to ignore the voice and press on. This was important and she couldn't let her feelings get the best of her. She had to be in this place. She couldn't pin point the reason, but a feeling greater than fear told her so.
In an attempt to get past her unsettling feelings Naru decided to look around at her surroundings. Without her really noticing it had become darker. Above her there was no moon, but thousands upon thousands of stars in the inky blue sky twinkled. Their reflection showed in a small collection pool. Naru took a deep breath and bent down to touch the still water. She watched the series of ripples that distorted the reflection of the stars, then sighed. The fear was beginning to subside. She stood up and looked at the rest of the courtyard. Debris from the four ancient structures that formed the courtyard was strewn everywhere. Columns had fallen over, the roof of one structure was completely caved in. Only one structure was still standing and completely in tact, but that too looked quite dilapidated. Naru thought that the slightest breeze would send the building toppling over. Beyond the ruins and the courtyard there was a rocky precipice and beyond that a vast darkness. Naru realized it was the ocean. Oddly enough it seemed entirely calm. As quite as the water in the collection pool. She also noticed there was no wind. Nothing. Everything here seemed to be quiet.
Naru sat down on one of the the fallen columns. What am I doing here she wondered. She could not leave, something inside of her would not allow it. Not yet. Perhaps she should wait. A few more minutes passed when out of the corner of her eye she saw a dim light in the only structure still completely standing. She was not alone in this ancient place. Automatically she rose from her seat and began to walk to the ruin against her better judgement. Naru's throat tightened and she gripped her dress. The voice in the back of her mind began again. "WAKE UP ! You are dreaming this isn't real." No. Naru had to see who was there. Dream or no dream this had to happen. Her heart pounded in her chest as she walked forward. She had the strangest sensation that she was walking backward instead of forward, but in no time she was at the entrance to the ruin. How did she manage to get to other side of the courtyard so quickly without tripping on the pieces of the fallen structures?
She walked through the crumbling archway. To her surprise Naru found that everything in the ruin looked new. Stained glass windows depicting scenes of the lives of long forgotten royalty ran from floor to ceiling. Tapestries looked as if they were completed and hung yesterday. Naru could make out several statues of what appeared to be some type of celestial goddess in the dim light. She followed the source of the light down a long hallway. Naru tried to control her breathing. She was both exited and scared. What if she was intruding? Maybe whoever was here wasn't friendly. Again she had the urge to wake up, but she shook her head. No. She was going to go through with this.
Finally she came to the end of the hallway and peered into the room, the took a few steps in. The ceiling was high and the molding on top and bottom appeared to be stained glass. The floor was made of milky blue tiles. The place had a different smell about it. It was like a breeze before thunder storm on a hot and humid day, very refreshing. This room unlike the one before it did not appear to have any artifacts. The one thing, that is the only person in in the room other than Naru stood in the middle. He was tall with long reddish brown hair. His arms were out stretched, eyes shut, he said something that was inaudible. Naru was sure she had walked in on something very private. Perhaps a religious ceremony of some sort and decided to leave quickly. As she scurried out of the room she looked up. She gasped and realized the cosmos was swirling above her head. Naru tripped and made a loud thud on the floor. Suddenly the stars and planets that were above them disappeared. She became very embarrassed and looked in the direction of the man. He was now looking at her. His piercing blue eyes seemed perplexed, almost afraid like he was seeing a ghost. Slowly he walked twords her. Naru tried to apologize for interrupting him. Yet she could not speak. She felt like she couldn't even get up. All Naru could do was stare at his handsome face. He was now standing over her and offered her his hand. Just then Naru felt relaxed. She knew this person somehow, but she could not place him. She took his hand and he helped her stand back up. They stood there for what seemed to be an eternity staring at each other. Naru was transfixed by him. He was beautiful and very familiar. The man looked as if he could not believe his own eyes. Finally he looked away and appeared to blink away tears. Then he turned his gaze back to Naru. They both began to reach for each others' hands.
Then without warning Naru's dream started to fade into something else. She was at a rock concert with several friends. The dream she had before was filed way deep into her subconscious.
