Because Mel encouraged me to watch the DVD instead of waiting to see the play...
I finally watched it a few weeks ago. Actually, I'd watched half of it before that. Apparently, one of my roommates had turned closed captioning off (they're always doing that), so I couldn't understand a word anyone said, which killed it for me. Then I decided to see if closed captioning was on. I turned it on, and lo! I could understand what they were saying! I ended up watching, like, half of it before falling asleep, then I decided to jump to the end.
Weeks later, I gave it another try (with closed captioning, of course). Well...I'm glad I saw it, but I probably won't want to see it again. I loved the costumes, Deuteronomy, Grizzabella, a couple of songs, and the ending, but other than that, it was kinda meh. Especially that *really* long instrumental part where the cats did nothing but dance.
In short, I'm glad Mel saved me $50 or however much it would've taken to see the play.
Also, for anyone considering the DVD, Mel told me there's a song missing, called "Growltiger's Last Stand", but I looked it up online, and it's about a cat in the past, and while I watched the DVD, I didn't notice anything being cut or anything.
