Personally: Merissa is a kind person. While she isn't a mutant she is very friendly with them. Some other humans have mistaken Merissa for a mutant since she hangs around with them. Merissa believes you shouldn't judge by looks but rather what's in the person's heart. She believes that one day all the other humans will see the same thing she does that not all mutants are bad.
History: Merissa was raised in an orphanage. She is an orphan and doesn't have a family. For years she's been living on the streets barely serving. Then one day she was caught in a gas explosion and was rescued by a handsome man in yellow with claws coming out of his hands.
She was injured in the explosion but the hospital wouldn't take her in cause they thought she was a mutant. So, Wolverine took her to the X-School(I don't know if that's the name but oh well)and up to the hospital wing. After she was better she thanked Wolverine for saving her life. Wolverine asked her why she wasn't scared of him. She told him she had no reason to be scared, that just cause he's a mutant that doesn't make him bad.
Wolverine could tell right away that this human was different then all the other humans he's met. He told her his name and asked her if he could take her home. She told him she doesn't have a home. He then offered to let her stay here, even though she's not a mutant. They talked it over with Professor Xavier and he agreed to let her stay. This is where our story begins.
