I can draw them that good too but my dumb paint thing won't listen to me, so it jerks around too much making me mess up

I get that too but my problem is the my wrist. Sometimes my wrist has a twitch. The one thing I did though was first traced around (that's the tough job) character in black so the separate lines are working out and then slowly to a recolor process to the rest of the body. Once I have that done. I resave it as .bmp because if I save it to anything else, I'll have the same problem again and then once I got each area recolored, I then can chose any color I want and just with a click the whole area becomes that one color. It's harder to do it with black when the outlines are in black so I then have to take the outline where it will be black and change the color on it. You'll notice that with my Dark Scouts. Getting the trace and first recolor is the hardest, but once you get past that, it becomes easier.
Oh, I should also add, that it's also a little easy, depending the hair style, to change the hair length so you're not always stuck with the same style of hair
